Usually I'd say this is a pretty mediocre pub, but there isn't much choice in Orpington, so this elevates it to rather good status! The pub has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, a reasonable range of beers (although real ale fans might be disappointed!) and serves the usual generic pub food. It is a mix of locals, and during the evening rush hour, a few suits,as the pub is situated just outside Orpington station. The pub has a large screen TV and advertises Sky Sports, but whilst there is a lot of sport on the TV, apart from on Saturday afternoons when it is quite noisy, it is possible to enjoy a quiet drink. There is a large bar area and the screens are only one side, thus keeping both the sports and non sports fans happy. There is also a jukebox and pool table for the more energetic, or you can sit down in front of the fire with a pint and a newspaper, which the pub usually has a selection of available for customers to read. Overall, if you are in the area, it is worth dropping in if you fancy a pint or reasonably priced meal.
